Who We Are

The HigherEd Readiness Project is a vibrant community initiative inspired by the real-life experiences of parents, students, and educators who truly understand the challenges of navigating higher education—especially for first-generation college students and immigrant families.

Led by Martha Zapata, a first-generation immigrant who has personally overcome these complexities, our dedicated team is passionate about empowering students and families in Kerrville and beyond. We offer bilingual support, guidance, and resources designed to help every student confidently pursue and achieve their college dreams.

Together, we are shaping a brighter future where every student has the opportunity to thrive and succeed.

Our Roots

Though our organization is newly established, our roots run deep. Our team brings years of experience, passion, and commitment from working in various educational and nonprofit sectors. Together, we have planted the seeds for a future where every student has the support they need to achieve their higher education goals.

Our Mission

To empower students and families in Kerrville and surrounding communities to pursue and succeed in higher education through bilingual support, guidance, and a nurturing community.
